Community and Philanthropy
Fostering Empathy, Inspiring Action.
At the Little School, giving back is woven into the heart of our culture. Throughout the year, our community comes together for meaningful philanthropic initiatives—like our October book drive, November food drive, and December toy drive—plus hands-on activities in Spring that teach kids the joy of helping others.
We also take bi-annual field trips to local favorites like the pumpkin patch, San Francisco Zoo, or the Academy of Sciences, helping students connect with the world beyond the classroom. We welcome visits from community heroes like police officers or firefighters to teach our kids about the value of service and the roles people play in our community.
These experiences help children build empathy, spark curiosity, and develop a deep appreciation for the world around them.

Philanthropy Programs
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) preschool, The Little School – Tiburon is proud to incorporate philanthropy into our community and curriculum. Throughout the year, we participate in a variety of charitable initiatives that allow our students to experience the joy of giving back:
Fall Book Drive: Children select gently used books from home to donate to The Global Book Exchange in San Rafael, helping share the gift of reading with other Bay Area children.
Canned Food Drive: Each November, we partner with the Marin Food Bank to collect non-perishable food items for local families in need before Thanksgiving.
Toys for Tots Drive: In partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, we gather new, unwrapped toys to bring holiday cheer to children across the Bay Area.
Valentines for the Troops: Our students create heartfelt valentines to send to service members, expressing our gratitude for their dedication and bravery.
Spring Beach Clean-Up: Every spring, we organize a beach clean-up at a local shoreline, teaching our children the importance of caring for our planet through hands-on environmental stewardship.
These meaningful experiences not only support our broader community but also help children grow into compassionate, responsible citizens of the world.
