Our teachers are the heart and soul of everything we do. Creative, diverse, and deeply nurturing, each one is dedicated to making learning an exciting and meaningful experience. With a solid foundation in early childhood education and decades of hands-on experience, our teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the classroom. For your child’s safety, all staff is CPR and First Aid certified.



Meet Teacher Heather!
School Director and Head of Nursery
Teacher Heather has been an integral part of the Little School family for 22 years. She began her journey in the Nursery class, where she spent 5 wonderful years before discovering her passion for Pre-K. Now, she’s back in Nursery, where she’s thrilled to be part of the foundation of these little ones' educational journeys.
In addition to teaching, Heather has served as the Director of our Tiburon campus for 10 years, where she’s enjoyed learning the ins and outs of school administration. Whether in the classroom or in leadership, Heather brings her dedication and passion to every part of the school community.
Heather holds a BA in Humanities with a concentration in Education from Dominican University of California and has furthered her Early Childhood Education studies at College of Marin and Laney College. With her diverse experience, Heather is committed to building a strong educational foundation while nurturing each child’s growth in both academic and social-emotional development.

Meet Teacher Sara!
Lead Teacher for Pre-K
Teacher Sara has been a cherished member of the Little School family for 18 years, specializing in Pre-K but with experience teaching kids of all ages. With a creative and caring approach, she blends a traditional curriculum of reading, math, and science with hands-on adventures like nature walks, gardening, baking and more! Through the Zoophonics program, she helps students master letter sounds, while also introducing them to fundamental math and science concepts in exciting, interactive ways.
Sara is passionate about fostering a love of learning, with a focus on developing academic skills and supporting social-emotional growth. Her warm approach helps children develop strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills—setting them up for success in the years ahead.
After completing her Early Childhood education training at the College of Marin, Sara has spent over 21 years fostering a love of learning. After years at the Little School in Mill Valley, she’s now bringing her warmth and enthusiasm to our Tiburon campus.


Meet Teacher Buffie!
Lead Teacher for Preschool
Teacher Buffie has been a valued member of the Little School family for over 10 years. After taking some time off to raise her own children, she returned to help with both our Nursery and Preschool classes. Buffie has a special connection with our youngest learners, having spent many years as a Pre School teacher. She’s also brought her expertise to University of Play in Terra Linda, where she worked with young children to spark their curiosity and creativity.
With a background in Early Childhood Education from College of Marin, Buffie is dedicated to helping her students develop a strong foundation in both academics and social-emotional skills. She loves being a part of these early, formative years and is passionate about fostering a love of learning in every child.
Meet Teacher Celeste!
Celeste has been part of the Little School family for 4 years. Her Early Childhood education training was completed through the American College of Education. Celeste brings a solid background in Biology and Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics and Photography from Scripps College.
As the Pre-K Teacher Assistant, she works alongside Sara to develop an exciting and diverse curriculum. By designing activities that reinforce zoophonics learning, she incorporates creative, fun, and educational programs supporting the magic of play and development.
She also teaches yoga weekly. With 27+ years of practicing yoga, Celeste has designed a weekly program that reinforces the letter of the week, while helping kids develop lifelong tools to relax, center, focus, and have fun!
